The Blackouts

The Blackouts may have day jobs, but they are full-time rock-and-roll. This independent and sexy all-girl rock band, based in Denver, formed in early 2009 after individual attempts with other bands. Their first jam proved electric and the group hit the Denver scene. Their quick success is demonstrated in the classic local venues they have played and been invited back to, including Herman’s Hideaway, Benders, Three Kings Tavern, City Hall and even headlining at The Bluebird. With iconic 70s and 80s rock and punk influences like The Pretenders, Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, and Metallica, the Blackouts naturally rock classics like Joan Jett’s “Do You Wanna Touch,” Concrete Blonde’s “Still in Hollywood” and L7’s “Shit List.” And though a solid cover always gets the crowd going, The Blackouts’ original work speaks for itself with songs like “Tease,” “Crash and Burn,” and “Bad Girlfriend.” Hot all-girl bands are quickly compared to others that came before them, but The Blackouts are in a league of their own and thank the Denver music scene for their support that got them where they are today. Jenn has music in her blood; her father is a professional musician, then she married Nelson’s guitar player. Today she holds her own and even plays some of the same Denver venues as dear ‘ole dad.
