Follow That Bird

What began in 2004 as an experimental, instrumental collaboration between two high school friends, Lauren Green and Tiffanie Lanmon, in the small town of Belton, TX, would slowly transform into what Gerard Cosloy (Matador) would later call “one of the best bands in the country”.

After moving to Austin in 2004, Follow That Bird underwent a few lineup changes, first adding bass player and fellow Beltonite Rachel Badger to the mix. During that time FTB opened for acts such as Shearwater, Jenny Hoyston (Erase Errata/Paradise Island), The Old Haunts (feat. Tobi Vail of Bikini Kill), The Strange Boys, and more.

Rachel’s relocation to Houston in 2008 caused Lauren and Tiffanie to revert to their orginal format as a two-piece while they hunted for a new bassist.

In February 2009, FTB added Mitchell Tellstrom (The Persimmons, Sex Advice) on bass and set off on a short tour with Bill Callahan (Smog) , released their song “The Ghosts That Wake You” on the Matador compilation, “Casual Victim Pile”, set off on a mini tour with other “CVP”-mates Dikes of Holland, and are now slotted to record a track for Esopus magazine. FTB opened for The Walkmen during Denton’s NX35 2010.

“Since then, Follow That Bird! has surged the Austin music scene” (DT). Follow That Bird has transformed its sound into what the Austinist has described as “Austin’s next big thing: solid, never precious guitar rock.”
